In March a new client, the Passe and Williams Foundation, announced its annual funding for innovative medical research in the ear, nose and throat sector, adopting an external communications strategy for the first time. The major award, for a world-first treatment to reverse hearing loss with revolutionary nanotechnology, was featured on channels Nine and Seven and in a range of publications.
It saw Foundation CEO Dr Jeanette Pritchard visiting the Sunrise set in Docklands, before the actual sunrise. Interviewed as a live cross from Sunrise’s Sydney studio’s, Jeanette explained how delivering growth factors into the inner ear would promote regrowth of critical connector cells, restoring hearing.
The Foundation’s funding will take the revolutionary process to human, clinical trials in two to four years. Sunrise said the project was “extraordinary” and could change millions of lives.
Following the media interest, Jeanette said the coverage of the awards was “such an impressive first outreach campaign” providing “outcomes that wouldn't have been possible otherwise”. The Foundation’s website, social media channels and email also saw dramatic spikes in interest.
